After 182 days of diverse and rich activities and events, which was enjoyed by over 24 million people from across the world, and 192 participating nations, the curtain of Expo 2020 Dubai, came down on the 31st of March 2022, at the iconic dome-structured Al Wasl Plaza.
In the 170 years of World Expo history, Expo 2020 Dubai was the first world expo held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, and the first hosted by an Arab Nation.
The site where Expo 2020 Dubai was held will soon welcome crowds again as “District 2020”, a smart city providing a fitting legacy to the success of the global spectacle.
It will house a residential and business complex that will be launched in October 2022. The 15-minute city, as organisers call it, will be a cycle-friendly, traffic-free urban space that will have cutting edge futuristic technology that are human-centric. The most striking structures (Al Wasl Plaza, UAE Pavilion and Alif - The Mobility Pavilion, to name a few), will remain in the Dubai South neighbourhood as will the two large parks, walking, cycle paths and restaurants in the city’s newest residential and business district.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be always be the greatest show, which showed the resilience of an amazing country in the world’s toughest times, which is a true testament to the great leaders of this country we all call home.
